Ironically, Chrome partially supported and utilized IE security zones on Windows, though it was not well documented.
Honestly I just assumed a modern equivalent existed. That it doesn’t is ridiculous. Local network should be a special permission like the camera or microphone.
Although those were typically used to give ActiveX controls on the intranet unfettered access to your machine because IT put it in the group policy. Fun days.
